This new build of MSN Messenger has been removed because of a new 80048883 error that started showing up and prevented the use of build 7.5.322. The Previous version (7.5.311) has been re-added as the download on http://messenger.msn.com. We are investigating what we can do to fix the 80048883 error found in build 7.5.322.

A new version of MSN Messenger was released on http://messenger.msn.com yesterday that is an update to MSN Messenger 7.5. This new version (7.5.322) should help resolve many of the 80048820 errors that were occurring when signing into MSN Messenger 7.5.

Still having same problem with MSN: using Windows Live Beta on Win XP Home edition.
User says that they got a message about certificates being expired (?) when it all started happening.
Have gone through the steps listed in the forum, can sign into hotmail.com, use Webmessenger, and all the Internet Options are unchanged from before. Checked Non-/Trusted sites list and even shut off the Windows firewall and spybot and reinstalled the nic (not a wireless connection).
Still no joy.
Have not found anything in the station\’s Registry nor the application. I\’m figuring that there is a corrupted dll somewhere that is not accepting changes to the firewall rules and it sitting there blocking the needed ports whether the firewall service is on or not. Have not had any other problems with the station, just with MSN…
Any suggestions on what to try next before I re-install the operating system ?

how can i fix key ports i click on repair all the time and when i log in it makes me repair it again and can u tell how u fix it so i can go on msn and talk to my friends

Hey i have had this error 80048820 for about a week and now i feel like i\’ve tried everything under teh sun to get it to work but it\’s STILL NOT WORKING !!!!!
The only thin i havent done is something to do with changing my router\’s MTU setting but im not sure what that is?!! I have just got netgear wireless and i think it\’s somehow stopping my msn, could someone please e-mail at craig_shields@hotmail.co.uk to hlpe me please im going insane!!!!

I\’ve had error message 80048820 coming up for a month, maybe more now when trying to sign in to messenger version 7.5 I\’ve tried everything I\’ve come across but nothing works, I can\’t even contact support as the page always slows then freezes. Anyone have any ideas, I\’m going out my mind here :(
i dont know whether this technique will work for everyone but it sure did for me :).
i think it could be a automatically signing in problem because i was using old msn and i always had to type my username and password in and when i decided to save it i got the same problem again.
so i went on to the new msn again and told it to forget all my information and retyped my username and password and suddenly it works again.
and now i can automatically sign in again so it could be some kind of automatically signing in bug.
All I can say is OH MY GOD! I\’ve been trying to get help for this error for days and finally I stumble accross this blog and a user fixes it for me. He/she is absolutely correct change the date and it\’s all sorted. THANK YOU and MSN tech support…more support is needed when you put out new releases!
i had the error 80048820 and mi probleme was that i had the date wrong (2005) instead of(2006)
i changed the date and now is working fine

I got the new msn 7.5, and it always went bad, always appeard the little error thing.
I did everything, downloaded it twice.
but nothing. Then i got the new msn. 8.0 (the little green one)
and still the same problem.
When i got to conections, its says that everything is ok, and MSN should be working.
I tryd everything.

Tirei a firewall pra ver se funcionava e nada.

Check your computers time & date. For this error seems like certificate validation error and this shows wher local date is wrong.
See, now I know it\’s not just me. I\’ve done everything. Hell, I REFORMATTED. … Twice! And you know what, it\’s still zonking out on me. Same error every time, as soon as I click. Run the repair tool, says it should work, and it doesn\’t connect. I couldn\’t even use MSN service through Trillian. I think something is wrong with your -servers-.

Like everyone else i did everything they said to do to fix this problem. (error code 80048820) i\’m goin nuts here im on windows xp my next step to fixing this problem is a 20 pound sledge hammer.
get it fixed ohh ya and im having problem\’s with hotmail as well sometimes i can get in and other times i can\’t , it says i don\’t have a certificate (loginnet.passport.com)

Hi my firend keeps getting this error code 1635 during installation, she is unable to update from 7.5.0311 to this new version…She also is unable to repair or uninstall 7.5.0311 due to this same error…something to do with patch package as well…..
Thanks to all for their comments. We have found that this new update does fix many of the 80048820 issues, but there are probably some cases where the error will occur. I would suggest that you visit http://support.msn.com and submit a support incident if this does not fix your issue. This way we can work with you to gather connectivity logs and see if we can determine why it did not fix the problem you encountered.
yea common sort it out, it worked fine before there must be a problem in msn\’s update….. cant be rocket science?
When will theese comments we post get get responded to, msn is really useful to use and not being able to has being anoyin… please can you sort this problem out soon, because I don\’t know what I can do?!?
hiya hope you can help me out ; when i try to sign in on msn it says that i have a trouble shoot so i click on the troble shoot and it is coming up all tick but the wireless sign hasnt got a tick by it and sometimes it says i have got a valied ip address (what does that mean ?)hope u e-mail back on chels4x4@hotmail.com thanks chelsey xx xx
i downloaded this new version and it stiil does not work.
i just hope that you guys would fix the problem asap because i find msn messenger to be a program that is very useful and i really like using it, just because i downloaded this "new" version i havent been able to use msn messenger. Hopefully these comments that we post get responded, treated and not just there for others with the same problem to read about who else is having the same exact problem.

Hello.I have been facing problem error 80048820 for at least one week. I have checked all my firewall and there does not seem to be any problem with it.The troubleshoot result was that my gateway is offline.I hope you can look into this problem because it is annoying the hell out of me.Thank you very much.
